Industry guide: Medical & clinics

Medical website design for practices, clinics and dental centers

A website where patients find the right doctor and service, book with confidence and know how to reach your practice. We design your site around the real needs of your practice or clinic and with respect for patient privacy.

  • Online booking with SMS reminders
  • A page for every doctor and every service
  • Map, one-tap calling and clear opening hours
  • Health content with the author's name and specialty

What should a medical website do for you?

Medical website design is different from designing an ordinary company website. Patients often arrive worried and with a few specific questions: what services does this doctor or clinic offer, when can I get an appointment, what about costs and insurance, and how do I get there? A good site answers these questions quickly and without clutter.

For a single doctor's practice, a simple site with an introduction, background, services, booking and contact details is enough. But a multi-specialty clinic, a dental practice, a cosmetic and dermatology clinic, a laboratory or a physiotherapy center needs a fuller structure: a separate page for each doctor, a separate booking calendar for each department, preparation guides before a visit, and content that the receptionist or front-desk team can manage.

If you haven't yet decided on building the site itself or on the technology, the website design page explains the overall process and the types of projects. This page focuses only on the specific needs of practices and healthcare centers, so you know what you really need and what you shouldn't pay for.

Every project starts with a free intro call so we can understand your type of center, the number of doctors, how you currently take bookings and where your patients come from. Then we send a written proposal with the scope of work, timeline and cost.

Features a medical website really needs

  • Online booking you can manage

With online medical booking, patients see free days and times, enter basic details and the appointment is recorded. From the admin panel, the receptionist sets days off, doctor leave and the capacity of each slot so there are no double bookings.

  • Confirmation and reminder SMS

After booking, a confirmation SMS is sent, and a reminder arrives a day or a few hours before the visit. This reduces no-shows and lightens the receptionist's phone load.

  • A dedicated page for each doctor

Name, specialty, professional license number, education, days in clinic and the services that doctor provides. Before a visit, patients want to know who they will see.

  • A separate page for each service

For each service, such as implants, laser treatment, exercise stress tests or post-surgery physiotherapy, a page that explains the procedure, the preparation needed, session length and common questions. These pages help patients and matter for search.

  • Insurance and cost information

A list of the insurers you work with and a clear explanation of which services insurance covers. If you don't want to publish your fees, at least give a general range or explain how to ask for a quote.

  • Fast access on mobile

The call button, directions, opening hours and booking button should be visible without scrolling. Pages should also be light and fast; we cover the technical side in our article on website speed optimization.

  • Before-and-after gallery with patient consent

For dental and cosmetic clinics, before-and-after images should be published only with the patient's written consent, without revealing identity and without misleading edits. The site should also make it easy to remove an image quickly.

  • Booking deposits when needed

For long treatments or centers with many no-shows, part of the fee can be collected at booking through a payment gateway. See the requirements in our payment gateway guide.

Suggested site map

This structure is designed for a mid-sized clinic or healthcare center.

  • Home page

A short introduction to the center, the booking button, main services, doctors, address and opening hours. Everything should be clear at first glance.

  • About us

History, licenses, equipment and the center's space, with real photos. Avoid stock or unrealistic images.

  • Doctors list and a page for each doctor

A list page with a specialty filter and a separate page for each doctor with background, days in clinic and a button to book with that doctor.

  • Services and a page for each service

Service categories and a page for each service explaining the procedure, preparation before the visit and aftercare.

  • Booking

Choose department, doctor, day and time; enter minimal details and receive a tracking code. Letting patients cancel or reschedule is also useful.

  • Insurance and costs

Insurers you work with, payment methods and answers to common financial questions.

  • Health magazine

Short educational articles about conditions and procedures, with the name and specialty of the author or medical reviewer and the date of the last update.

  • Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions the receptionist handles by phone every day: parking, documents to bring, when test results are ready and so on.

  • Contact and directions

An exact written address, a map, a Google Maps directions link, phone number, opening hours and a message form.

Integrations and tools around the site

  • SMS provider

A connection to your SMS provider to send verification codes, booking confirmations, reminders and follow-up messages after a visit. SMS costs are separate and paid directly to the SMS provider.

  • Payment gateway

A connection to local and international payment gateways for booking deposits or consultation fees.

  • Maps and directions

Your center's location on a map and a direct Google Maps directions link, so patients can open the route with one tap.

  • Existing booking platforms

If you already have a profile on a third-party online booking platform, we can link to that profile from your site. A direct integration is only possible if that platform offers a public API and allows its use.

  • WhatsApp and Telegram

A chat button for general questions such as opening hours or documents to bring. We recommend not using these channels for medical consultations or for sending medical records.

  • Automating repetitive tasks

Sending new bookings to the receptionist automatically, daily reports or follow-up messages after treatment can be set up with n8n automation.

SEO for medical websites and visibility in local search

Most medical searches are local: "dentist in [neighborhood]" or "physiotherapy near me". That is why local SEO is the most important part of the work for a practice or clinic. A verified Google Business Profile, the same name, address and phone number everywhere, and service pages that mention your city and area all help patients find you on Google Search and Google Maps.

In its search quality rater guidelines, Google treats health topics as sensitive (YMYL), meaning it expects more accuracy and credibility from content that affects people's health. So articles should show the name and specialty of the author or medical reviewer, cite reliable sources and be kept up to date.

Alongside this, technical work such as speed, the mobile version, schema.org structured data with types like MedicalClinic, Physician or Dentist, and a sound internal link structure should be done. If you want this handled on an ongoing basis, see our SEO services, and use the SEO checklist to review your current site. No one can guarantee a specific ranking; we focus on the right, measurable work.

  • Create a separate page for each main service, with its own title and meta description.
  • Mention your city and area naturally in page titles and contact text, not through artificial repetition.
  • Claim and verify your Google Business Profile and use the same name, address and phone number everywhere.
  • Under each health article, show the doctor's name, specialty and review date.
  • Link each doctor's page to the services they provide, and each service to the relevant doctors.
  • Collect real patient questions and add short, accurate answers to your pages.

Medical advertising ethics and patient privacy

Medical advertising and patient communication follow their own rules, and these vary by country and can change. Before the site goes live, check the text, professional titles and any advertising against your local health and advertising regulations with your professional body or legal adviser; we build the site so you can meet them. As a general rule, avoid promising certain outcomes, comparing yourself with colleagues, phrases like "the best" or "no side effects", and any specialist title you don't hold.

Patient information is sensitive. The booking form should collect only what is necessary, the site should run on HTTPS, panel access should be defined separately and narrowly for each user, and data should be backed up regularly. We recommend not receiving medical records, test results or descriptions of illness through a public form or messaging app, unless there is a secure solution and the patient has given informed consent.

Publishing before-and-after photos, patient reviews or anything that could identify a patient is allowed only with written, traceable consent, and the patient must be able to request removal at any time. Don't edit images so that results look better than they are. Responsibility for medical content lies with you and your center's doctors; we provide the structure, technical security and the ability to publish and remove content.

Common mistakes on medical websites

  • Online booking that isn't synced with the real calendar

If phone and online bookings are managed in two separate places, double bookings happen and patients lose trust. Before starting, decide on a single way to manage appointments.

  • One general page for all services

Listing ten services on one page helps neither patients nor search. Every important service needs its own page.

  • Copied text or content with no author

A health article without the author's name and specialty lowers the site's credibility and may give patients incorrect information.

  • Stock photos instead of the real space

Patients want to see the real practice, equipment and doctor.

  • Outdated contact details

Opening hours, doctors' days in clinic and phone numbers must always be up to date. Outdated information means wasted calls and unhappy patients.

  • Unsupported advertising claims

Promising a "guaranteed cure" or showing made-up statistics destroys trust and may conflict with medical advertising rules.

Medical website design cost

The cost depends on the type of center, the number of doctors and services, how complex the booking is and how much content needs to be produced. The prices below are starting prices; the final price is set after we review your needs and is written into the contract. For a first estimate, use the cost calculator, and see the details of each plan on the pricing page.

Extra features are added only if needed, such as a booking and appointment system, a payment gateway, or a multilingual version for international patients. Each is estimated separately for your project. The intro call is free, and you can pick a time on the book an intro call page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does medical website design cost?

A site on ready-made WordPress starts from $1,490, with a custom theme from $2,990, and with custom development from $5,990. Features such as booking or a payment gateway are estimated separately. The final price is written into the contract after we review your needs.

How long does it take to build a practice or clinic website?

Depending on the plan, 7–45 business days. Much of the time depends on getting the texts, photos and doctors' information ready.

Can our own receptionist manage online booking?

Yes. The booking panel is set up so the receptionist can change working days, holidays, doctor leave and slot capacity on their own. After delivery, we train your team to use the panel.

We already have a profile on another booking platform; do we need to drop it?

No. We can link from your site to your profile on that platform. A direct, integrated connection is only possible if that platform offers a public API and allows its use; we check this before we start.

Will our site rank first on Google?

No honest agency guarantees a specific ranking. We implement a sound technical structure, separate service pages and trustworthy content, which are the foundation of visibility. If you want ongoing SEO, monthly SEO plans start from $590/month.

Who writes the medical content on the site?

Specialist content should be written by a doctor, or reviewed and approved by one, because the healthcare center is responsible for its accuracy. We help with text structure, plain language for patients and SEO, and we can prepare drafts for the doctor to review.

Can we put before-and-after treatment photos on the site?

Only with the patient's written consent, without revealing their identity and without misleading edits. Before publishing, check your local medical advertising regulations with your professional body or legal adviser.

What support do we get after delivery?

Depending on the plan, you get 1–3 months of free support. After that, you can take monthly support from $149/month, which includes updates, backups and fixes.
