Website design for lawyers, law firms and legal practices
A website where a client understands at first glance who they are dealing with, can verify the lawyer's license, knows how a consultation works and what it costs, and can send documents with peace of mind. We design your firm's website around honest trust-building and confidentiality.
- Each lawyer shown with license number and issuing authority
- In-person, phone or online consultation booking
- Secure document upload with the client's informed consent
- Legal articles with author name and review date
What should a law firm website do for you?
Someone looking for a lawyer is usually dealing with a serious problem: a property dispute, a family matter, a bounced cheque or an immigration case. Before calling anyone, they want to be sure the person is a genuinely licensed lawyer, works on that exact type of matter, and that the consultation fee is clear in advance. Law firm website design means answering exactly these doubts, clearly and without exaggeration.
For an independent lawyer, a website with an introduction, practice areas, a consultation fee policy, booking and contact details is enough. A legal practice or a firm with several lawyers needs a fuller structure: a separate page for each lawyer and each practice area, a separate consultation calendar for each person, an articles section, and an admin panel that the office manager or assistant can keep up to date.
If you haven't yet decided on building a site and choosing the technology, the website design page explains the overall process. This page focuses only on the specific needs of law firms, legal practices, arbitration centers and immigration consultancies.
Every project starts with a free 30-minute intro call so we can understand the type of firm, the number of lawyers, the practice areas and how you currently take on clients. We then provide a written proposal and contract with the scope of work, timeline and cost.
Features a law firm website really needs
Lawyer profiles that clients can verify
Full name, license category, license number, issuing authority (the bar or licensing body that registered the lawyer) and validity date. If the issuing authority offers a public lookup, link to it so clients can check for themselves.
A separate page for each practice area
Family, property, criminal, commercial, employment, company formation, arbitration or immigration; each with a page explaining how you help in that area, which documents are needed for the first meeting, and common questions.
A clear consultation fee policy
Before booking, the client should know whether the first consultation is free or paid, how long the session is, and whether the fee is deducted from any later legal fee. You don't need to publish your case fees.
Online consultation booking
Choosing a lawyer or practice area, the session type (in person, phone or video), an available day and time, and a short description. The assistant sets days off, court hearings and daily capacity from the admin panel, and the client receives SMS confirmation and reminders.
Secure document upload
Instead of sending contracts, judgments or ID documents over a messaging app, an upload form over HTTPS with limits on file type and size, storage that is not accessible from outside, and access only for the responsible lawyer.
Articles that answer real questions
"How is a dowry claim enforced?" or "Where do I start with a bounced cheque?". Each article shows the author's name and license category, the date written and the date last reviewed, plus a reminder that it does not replace advice on a specific case.
Fast access on mobile
Most clients arrive on mobile. A one-tap call button, consultation booking and the office address should be visible without scrolling, and pages should be light; we cover the technical details in our article on website speed optimization.
A bilingual version for international clients
For commercial arbitration, international contracts or immigration advice, you need an English or Arabic version of the main pages, office hours with a time zone and the option of a video session. Legal translation should be reviewed by a fluent professional, not left as raw machine translation.
Suggested site map
This structure is designed for a law firm or legal practice with several lawyers and becomes simpler for an independent lawyer.
Home page
A short introduction to the firm, the main practice areas, the lawyers, the consultation fee policy, a booking button and the address. No slogans and no claims about outcomes.
About the firm
How you work, your confidentiality principles, the firm's licenses and real photos of the office and the lawyers.
Lawyers and a page for each lawyer
A list of lawyers filtered by practice area and a separate page for each person with license category, license number, issuing authority, verification link, education, languages and a button to book with that lawyer.
Practice areas and a page for each area
Topics grouped by category, with a page for each area explaining the general process, the documents needed for the first meeting and common questions.
Fees and consultation process
Session types, duration, cost or free status, payment method, and how the engagement contract is drawn up after the consultation.
Book a consultation
Choose a lawyer or practice area, session type, day and time; enter minimal details and receive a tracking code. Cancelling or rescheduling should also be possible.
Document upload
A secure upload page that explains how files are stored and deleted, with an informed-consent checkbox.
Legal articles
Answers to clients' common questions with the author's name, review date and a link to the related practice area.
Contact and directions
An exact written address, a map, a Google Maps directions link, phone, office hours and a short message form that does not ask for case details.
Integrations and tools around the site
SMS service
Sending verification codes, consultation confirmations and reminders before the session. Messages should not mention the subject of the case, because the client's phone may be seen by others. SMS costs are separate and paid directly to the SMS provider.
Online payment gateway
If consultations are paid, the fee can be collected at booking through a local or international payment gateway. Agree in advance how clients outside your country will pay. See the activation requirements in our payment gateway guide.
Video sessions
For online consultations, the meeting link can be sent to the client automatically once the booking is confirmed.
Map and directions
Showing the office location on a map with a direct directions link in Google Maps, so the client can open the route with one tap.
WhatsApp and Telegram
Useful for general questions such as office hours or how to book. We recommend not accepting case details and documents through these channels, and saying so on the site.
Backups and maintenance
A site that receives client documents must be updated, backed up and monitored. If you don't have a technical team, see website care & maintenance.
Law firm SEO and visibility in local search
A large share of legal searches are local: "property lawyer in [city]" or "law firm near the courts". That is why local SEO matters a lot for law firms. A verified Google Business Profile, the same name, address and phone number everywhere, and practice-area pages that mention your city all help you appear in these searches.
In its search quality rater guidelines, Google treats legal topics, like finance and health, as sensitive (YMYL) topics; it expects more accuracy and credibility from content that affects people's lives and rights. A legal article should have a named, qualified author or reviewer, cite the relevant law or court decision, and be updated when the law or practice changes.
The technical side must also be right: speed, the mobile version, schema.org structured data with types such as LegalService for the firm and Person for each lawyer, and sensible linking between lawyer, practice-area and article pages. If you want this followed up continuously, see our SEO services, and use the SEO checklist to review your current site. No one can guarantee a specific ranking; we focus on the right, measurable work.
- Create a separate page for each main practice area, with its own title and meta description.
- Mention your city naturally in page titles and the contact section, not through artificial repetition.
- Claim and verify your Google Business Profile, and keep your name, address and phone number identical everywhere.
- Under each article, show the author's name and license category and the date it was last reviewed.
- Link each lawyer's page to their practice areas and each practice area to the relevant lawyers.
- Collect the questions clients ask on the phone and answer them briefly and accurately on your pages.
Lawyer advertising rules, confidentiality and honesty with clients
Lawyer advertising and marketing are governed by professional rules that differ from one jurisdiction to another and can change. Before the site goes live, check the texts, titles, domain name and any advertising against the current rules of the bar or licensing body that issued your license, or with a legal adviser. We build the site so you can meet those rules.
As a general rule, avoid promising case outcomes, phrases such as "100% success", "guaranteed win" or "best lawyer in town", made-up statistics about cases won, and fake reviews or ratings. Such promises destroy trust and may also conflict with professional rules. Don't list a title or license category you don't hold.
An immigration consultancy or immigration services company is not a law firm unless someone working there actually holds a license to practice law. Such an office should not present itself with words like "lawyer" or "law firm", and it is better to state clearly what type of license it holds and who issued it. Arbitrators and lawyers are also two separate roles.
Client confidentiality is a red line. The site should run on HTTPS, forms should collect only the necessary information, panel access should be defined separately and restrictively for each user, and data should be backed up regularly. Publishing a client's name, case story or review is only allowed with their written, traceable consent, and the client must be able to request removal at any time. Responsibility for the legal content lies with you and your firm's lawyers; we provide the structure, the technical security and the ability to publish and remove content.
Common mistakes on law firm websites
Claiming outcomes instead of an honest introduction
"We will definitely win your case" or "100% success" drives informed clients away and may conflict with professional rules. Explain your process and expertise, not the result.
Writing "lawyer" without license details
Without a license number and issuing authority, the client cannot tell you apart from unlicensed offices.
One general page for every topic
Listing "family, property, criminal and commercial matters" in one paragraph helps neither the client nor search. Each main practice area needs its own page.
Copied, unsigned or outdated articles
Legal text without an author or based on an old law can mislead clients and damage the firm's credibility.
Collecting documents via messaging apps or a public form
A contact form that asks for the full case story, or sends documents to a shared email inbox, puts confidentiality at risk.
Fake reviews and stock photos
A fake client review or a stock photo of a "lawyer in court" is easy to spot with a little care and wipes out all the site's credibility.
Law firm website design cost
The cost depends on the number of lawyers and practice areas, the need for online booking and document upload, the number of languages and how much content must be produced. The prices below are starting prices; the final price is set after we review your needs and is stated in a written contract. Use the cost calculator for an initial estimate and see the details of each plan on the pricing page.
Extra features are added only if needed: a consultation booking system and a multilingual version for international clients are estimated separately. The cost of a payment gateway, secure document upload and other features depends on the scope of work and is set in the estimate. Hosting, domain and third-party services are charged separately. Also read our notes on the website design contract, and book a free initial conversation through the intro call page.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a law firm website cost?
A site on ready-made WordPress starts from $1,490, with a custom theme from $2,990 and with custom development from $5,990. Features such as consultation booking or a multilingual version are estimated separately. The final price is written into the contract after we review your needs.
How long does it take to build a law firm website?
Between 7 and 45 business days, depending on the plan. Much of the time depends on getting the practice-area texts, real photos and the lawyers' license details ready.
Are lawyers allowed to have a website and advertise online?
Lawyer marketing and advertising are governed by professional rules, and the details can differ between licensing bodies and can change. Before publishing, check your texts and ads against the current rules of the bar or licensing body that issued your license.
Why should we show our license number on the site?
Because clients want to be sure they are dealing with a real lawyer. Your full name, license category, license or registration details as issued by your licensing authority, and a verification link where available, set you apart from unlicensed offices.
We are an immigration consultancy; can we call ourselves lawyers?
No, unless someone in the office actually holds a license to practice law and is introduced by name with that license. An immigration consultancy should state clearly what type of license it holds and who issued it, and describe its services accurately.
Are client documents kept secure on the site?
The upload form runs over HTTPS, files are stored where they cannot be accessed from outside, and only authorized users can reach them. Even so, collect only the documents you need and have a deletion policy.
Who writes the legal articles on the site?
Legal content should be written by a lawyer or reviewed and approved by one, because the firm is responsible for its accuracy. We help with the structure, plain writing for clients and SEO points, and we can prepare drafts for the lawyer to review and date.
Will our site rank first on Google?
No honest agency guarantees a specific ranking. We build a sound technical structure, separate pages for practice areas and a foundation for trustworthy content, which is the basis for being found.
Can we publish client reviews on the site?
Only real reviews with the client's written consent, without revealing case details and with the option to remove them at any time. Don't publish made-up or edited reviews, and check the rules of your bar or professional body on this before publishing.
Who owns the site after delivery?
Once paid in full, full ownership of the code and the custom design is transferred to you. Payment is 50% before starting and 50% after delivery, you get three free review rounds, and 1–3 months of free bug fixing depending on the plan.
